Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Last night was awesome. And, we looked awesome. The group Wizard of Oz costume theme came together better than we expected. Let me also add that being Dorothy for Halloween was on my Life 'To Do' list. Thanks Fawn, Shawn and Greg!

The Scarecrow (Greg), The Tin Man (Fawn), Dorothy (Me) and The Lion (Shawn) following the Yellow Brick Road.

Shawn actually wore a prosthetic to get this look. Looks just like the movie! He also MADE this costume (the body part). BUT he was super warm. Remember people we are in California! And though it was too hot out last night, it's still not in the 30s. This costume would be perfect for a Halloween in Wisconsin.

I loved wearing this costume, especially the shoes! The basket doubled as a purse. I did make the shoes. Goodwill $5.99 shoes, spray painted red and glitterized. I also had to style the wig. The great thing is that I can use it for another Halloween. (I was thinking Ariel from The Little Mermaid because the hair is a little red. But Fawn said it's not red enough. So she suggested Belle from Beauty and the Beast. This could definitely work!)

Me with some friends — Scott as Olive Oil and Maureen as Popeye.

Fawn and Greg in character. Fawn's costume is practically homemade also. She glitterized her shirt, cut another pair of silver leggings to make arms and then spray painted and glitterized her funnel hat. If you look closely you can see black coming out of the top. That is her hair that was spray painted to portray oil.

And on the way, we actually found Glenda the Good Witch. All we need is the Wicked Witch to complete our group.

It's the end of the night and mine and Fawn's feet were hurtin (but I still LOVED my shoes). Greg, well, I think he was just ready to take off his costume. Or he was hungry.

Happy Halloween from Dorothy and ToTo.
