A+ for you mom, A+

Dearest Mother of mine,

The other day I said something that you would say. Then I stared at myself in the mirror and said it again. Then…I started laughing really hard. The good news is that I was laughing instead of crying.

These days, the phrase “You’re turning into your mother” isn’t taken so lightly. For now, I guess I have to say, “Bring it on!” 

Lately I started realizing how independent you really are. When you want something, you go after it.

Going to college and finishing is a big accomplishment for you, both personally and professionally. Though always wanting to go to college, life took you down a different path.

But here you are, all those years later. You finally did it! I guess it’s true what they say, “Everything happens for a reason.” I truly believe that. To each their own, at their own time. This was your time.

And oh what a time it was! Working full-time and going to school had its stressful times. But you pulled through with your A’s and that one infamous B (unless there are others you haven’t told me about). Ha! Though I didn’t confer this with Dana, I think I can speak for the both of us when I say — we are so proud of you…BUT we will not miss you calling to brag about your latest A+. Hahahahhaa! Just kidding! We were just jealous. :-)

Now that I write this for you, I feel that I should have compiled one letter for both you and dad. Everything blurs together. You and dad are quite a team. It’s like we’re now complete. All you need is some grandbabies…and to marry me off to a sensible suitor. 

You know how much I love you. It's just there, all around you, all the time. And I'm reminded of you everyday when I look at my nose, my crooked tooth, my hips (ugh) or hear myself say something very dorky, among many other things I'm sure.
