The Help

Dana, mom and I went to see The Help Friday night. It was so good! Great. Fantastic. Wonderful. Before the movie came out, I had heard about the book. But, as what usually happens, I didn't really get excited to read the book until after seeing the movie — knowing their was likely much more detail and story to be read. So on Saturday, I picked up the book and finished Chapter 1 the other night. I want/need to finish the book this week, since next week the fall semester starts (and I just ordered my six school books for the semester).

I think what interests me the most about this story is that even though it is fiction, the author herself grew up with "help" in Jackson, Mississippi. So she did input some personal feelings into this story, which to me always makes writing — especially fiction — a little bit easier and makes the story more relatable to other people.
