Buried treasures

I was digging through my Hope Chest this morning to make room for my latest additions — Newsweek and People magazines, and a San Diego Tribune (all election coverage) — when I finally found something I've been looking for. Tucked away in one of my many boxes was a CD that had old pictures of my parents, me and Dana. Dana and I had scanned some old photos for my parents 25th Wedding Anniversary back in 2005. I love looking at these old photos. To think that they were around my age at the time continues to amaze me. Also, I laugh at the clothes, eye glasses and hairdos.

The early years. Mom and dad met at a party while dad was in college at the University of Wisconsin. They did go to the same high school, but dad was two years older. Mom says he was popular and had a 'steady' girlfriend. Dad wore some pretty trendy clothes back in the day. And he had nice hair! Mom also had her changing hairdos, and unfortunately had to wear those ridiculous glasses.
Then they got married, had me and moved to California where Dana was born. This is a photo of one of many places mom and dad took us too. Dad says every weekend they'd pull out the map and go somewhere. I think this is Yosemite. But I forget.

I kick myself today remembering how fast I wanted to grow up when I was younger. I couldn't wait to get my driver's license, finish college and move out on my own. Now, I want the years to go by slower, and am trying to savor each day, month and year. Time, seriously, is going by too fast. And as I sit here listening to Christmas music (yes, it's that time...), I'm trying to remember not to forget that Thanksgiving comes first. Hahaha...
