Art in the park

Literally, my pottery class is located in the park — in Spanish Village of Balboa Park. It's really pretty, but my classes are at night so I don't really get to see the beauty of it. I just have to keep my eyes peeled for the many homeless people that call the place "home." So every time I leave I do like mom taught me and put two keys between my fingers. I then mentally prepare to break out my kickboxing moves if anyone so much as looked at me funny.

I realized this was true when another artist in the village came by our class to ask if a guy had come by to ask for work. My teacher said yes, but that she turned him away. She then went on to say that once you pay one to sweep or paint, word gets around and soon more from the "community" come by. Sad, but true.

I had my second pottery class last night and attempted the WHEEL.
(pictured at right if you don't know what it looks like. this isn't me though.)
So from this contraption, I made four bowls. Next week, I'll carve some of the bottoms to clean them up, and then glaze my other pieces from the first week.

I'm taking orders now since I'm really getting the hang of this. Teacher lady told me to slow down a little. New girl next to me just couldn't hack it, so while the teacher was away I tried to help her and tell her that her bowls were just ... "unique." :-) I ultimately would like to try to make a vase or a potter for a plant.
These are my bowls!
