So I did my taxes last Friday night after work. Oh the wonders of TurboTax - makes everything so easy for me.
So there were rumors of course that our state tax returns would be IOU's due to that California is officially bankrupt. GREAT. Well now it's official that I'll be getting a big fat IOU. Ain't that peachy.
Here is the headline from the Mercury News from San Jose:
"Counting on your California tax refund? Don't hold your breath
Starting in February, state Controller John Chiang plans to suspend some $3.7 billion in scheduled payments for at least 30 days. Among those not getting paid: taxpayers who file early awaiting their refunds, programs that help the poor and disabled and college students who rely on grants for tuition, housing and textbooks."
Well isn't that just the cats meow. Thanks Arnold! I get my taxes done pretty much at the earliest point possible and now I wait. I'm just happy that a good portion of my return isn't from the state.
